What happens at this event?

Calling all beginners! Join us for a fun and social calligraphy workshop using modern, Chinese brush pen lettering, and a simple, faux calligraphy style you’ve not seen before! Learn the basics of modern calligraphy and create beautiful pieces to take home. Perfect for adding a personal touch to cards, invitations, and more.

No experience necessary. All materials provided. Including a personalised workshop pack for you to take home, and practice with any and all the pens you can get your hands on!

Classes are go at your own pace, with a local artist and sign writer to help guide…

Things to remember

Please arrive 10 minutes before to make sure you have time to find your place and grab a drink. Absolutely no experience needed, just an open mind and an afternoon of fun with lettering!

FAQ's
What if I’ve got terrible handwriting?
That’s ok! Our workshop sheets are designed to get you started, with tracing and copying. You’ll be surrounded with examples that have been made to inspire you. And our faux calligraphy technique can be used on any handwriting imaginable!
What shall I wear?
You can wear anything you’d like! Something comfy or something glam! You’re more likely to get ink on your hands than anywhere else.
Does it make a difference if I’m left handed?
The pens you’ll be using won’t smudge easily, but if you’ve found a pen you know you’re already used to, bring it along! Fine liners are preferred, but our faux calligraphy technique can be created with any pen! Just let us know beforehand so we can seat you somewhere that has plenty of elbow room for everyone!
What if I have arthritis/mobility issues in my hands?
We recommend you take plenty of breaks throughout the class and make sure to stay as relaxed as possible. Everyone will be reminded to shake out their hands during a little planned break too. We do also supply soft aids, that can slide onto the pens if anyone requires help with their grip

This was a great introduction workshop. Highly recommend. Rhian is patient, approachable and friendly. She had prepared our learning packs in advance and even written our names in Calligraphy on the envelopes. She allowed us space to work on our own but also explained everything well snd was there to answer any questions. Thank you Rhian. I will definitely try out your other courses!
